Frequently asked questions

How does a hot tub differ from a conventional whirlpool?
Unlike a conventional whirlpool, a hot tub often has a natural heat source such as a wood-burning stove and does not require complex technical equipment such as electronic controls.
What advantages does a hot tub offer compared to other outdoor whirlpools?
Hot tubs or bath tubs are characterised by their natural look and pleasant wooden ambience. They are energy efficient, as they are often heated with wood, and offer an authentic outdoor bathing experience. They are also often cheaper to purchase and maintain than modern whirlpools.
How do you properly heat and maintain a hot tub?
Heating is provided by an integrated wood-burning stove, which brings the water to the desired temperature in approx. 2-3 hours. For maintenance, it is important to change the water regularly and clean the hot tub thoroughly after use to prevent algae growth and deposits. Wood preservatives can help to extend the life of the wood.
How often should I change the water?
Most hot tubs with conventional water treatment systems should be emptied and refilled every three to four months, although this also depends greatly on usage habits and whether a weatherproof cover is used.
What should be considered in terms of safety?
Ensure that the hot tub is placed on a stable, level surface and that the wood-burning stove is installed securely. The water temperature should not exceed 40 °C to avoid health risks. Children should only use the hot tub under supervision and for limited periods of time.
Can a hot tub be used outdoors all year round?
Yes, a Feuerbad hot tub made of sturdy wood and with appropriate insulation can be used outdoors all year round. In winter, it is advisable to protect the hot tub with a cover and to monitor the water quality particularly carefully. If temperatures remain below freezing for a prolonged period and the hot tub is not in use, the water should be drained to prevent frost damage.
